Student Teaching (9/9-9/13)

This week was a lot like last week where I focused on teaching more lessons, this time adding math onto what I was previously teaching. I also had to work around a couple different problems with students and got more insight into SEL planning within the school. I also conducted my midterm triad with my CT and Supervisor, which went really well.

The lessons I taught went really well for the most part. Nothing notable happened except for one math lesson that the students had a hard time with because the worksheet they had was beyond what they had just learned. Because of this, my CT and I had to course correct and spend more time re-teaching it and had them work on online work over Seesaw and having them forego that worksheet. That seemed to be a major help to the students who had a much easier time with the new concept going forward.

There was a couple issues that students had that I had to help take care of this week. The first was a couple of students not following their procedures when going to the restroom as I caught them messing around after I went to check on them because they were gone for so long. With approval from my CT, I made sure to mark down that they spend the first part of the afternoon recess practicing these procedures. This was the most common issue - students needing to review and practice procedures.

When I met with my CT and Supervisor for my triad, I got some great feedback from both of them. Everything seemed to go well and I was happy with the feedback I got from them. I was happy to be able to talk with them both at the same time and it felt extremely productive.
