Student Teaching (9/3-9/6)

This week was a much ore teaching heavy week than the prior week. Not only did I continue with running the morning meetings, I would also add both phonics and literacy intervention groups. It was definitely a big step up from the amount of work I did last week, but it was honestly nice having more to do throughout the day and it made me feel much more ready to take over full time later this month.

On top of the additional teaching opportunities, I also got more work time with different students because I was more engaged in the classroom. During individual work time, I would walk around the room and help students anytime they raised their hand. This allowed me to connect with them more and I noticed that as the week progressed, the more they would talk to me outside of the normal lesson and would even ask me to help them during recess time.

  1. its nice to be able to walk around and help the students that need it. Like you said it makes it so much easier to make connections with them. It makes them be more comfortable with us and be willing to come talk to us during recess or lunch. It's awesome that you have been able to make more connections with these students!

  2. Shawn, It's a great feeling as they start to connect with you. Even a simple comment like, "I like your shirt!" will make a connect with them. Keep making the connections. You never know how far a smile will go with a student. That might be just what they needed to get thru the day. They need you , Shawn.
